Covid19 and small business grants. This is Gordon  D'Silva, and I've had a couple of emails from clients asking me about small business grants. I thought I'd do an update today, 23rd of March regarding small business grants for employers and businesses. What we now know as well. What we now know at the moment is that the government is going to be issuing grants of 10,000 pounds to small businesses who are specifically specifically exempt from small business rates.

Now, if you've never heard, I'd never heard from your local authority about small business rates, chances are you are not one of those businesses qualifying who are exempted. From small business rates, either because you work from home, well, you work from a serviced office or you work from client's premises and you don't have an office premises, a commercial premises, whether it's an office or a shop, or a factory that is exempt from small business rights.

So if you all thinking, well I'm a small business, do I get a grant cause I don't pay business, right? The answer is. Probably not, unless you've heard from your local authority saying you are exempt from small business rights. Now if you do qualify, we all told that HMLC or no, not HMLC your local authority.

Excuse me. We are told you will. Local authority will in fact. Get back to you right to you and about the business grown. So right now we don't know anymore, but we all keep, we are keeping all years to the ground. We will let you know, keep it, keep the video. We keep the videos coming every day at the moment.

And as things change, as things, information becomes available. We will certainly, email you through videos and let you know that certain things are becoming more clear. In the meantime, the government is making announcements by the day, but the clarity on how it's going to work isn't following through yet.

So there's a lot for government to do. They're doing a lot right now. They're trying to put people's minds at rest and saying things are happening, but unfortunately, it's the clarity that on how it's going to work hasn't quite been formalized. You know? It's like changing a tech system for a country. In a week or two weeks, it's not going to happen.

It's going to take a bit longer, and there's going to be some casualties in the process and some delays, without any doubt. So this is Gordon wishing you well. Keep your social distance. I keep telling everyone. You know, recognize that  your by keeping the social distance, by keeping yourself isolated, in fact you all saving lives, you know, there's not often we get a chance to save lives in suddenly in my perfection.

I know some of you could save lives in your profession. But this is one of those times where we could say clients' lives by practicing self isolation, even though we don't need to. I'm a self isolating. I'm not mixing with anyone because there's no need for one more person to go and create, you know, infect somebody else, get infected myself.

And in fact, no, we don't need that right now. The NHS needs as much time. To get things together. Nurses do not want to die looking after people who are infected unnecessarily. They already deserve a pay rise and OMBA or something. They're each to be recognized for all the hard work they're doing.

Let's protect them and keep up keeping in touch with me. We'll send you information as and when they come available. Just keep in touch with the, with the videos and we will let you know as soon as things become clear and methodologies become right, take out, put you on the list for, if you're getting this video, I'll put you on the list for them.

Business rates, if you all a business rate thing, just send me a mail saying I am exempt from business rates and I've had a letter from my council saying, I don't have to pay business rates if you're already working from home or working at client sites or, you know, going to get that ground for the moment anyway.

Okay. They may extend it to freelances and stuff, but right now nothing or I take care. Thank you. Bye.
