How I plan the week ahead

One of the things we look at in our (Profit Propeller Program), is making sure we plan our week ahead. This one thing has contributed more to our growth and success, and that of our clients, than any other “one thing”.

Without this, most other things wouldn’t happen as quickly or as systematically.

You may have heard of Working ON, or Working IN your business.

If you haven’t, let me summarise it briefly…

Working IN

Working in your business, is doing all the things that you have to do to run your business, such as hiring, firing, taking calls from clients and suppliers, making calls to clients and suppliers, dealing with team members, raising invoices, collecting money, paying suppliers, doing the bookkeeping, dealing with the government regulators such as VAT, PAYE and other tax bodies…

These have to be done for your business to run.

Working ON

Working on your business, encompasses all things that don’t have to be done, but should be done, because they grow your business, and improve your business results.

These will include designing a new marketing campaign, creating or offering a new product or service, working on new ads, working on your positioning, reviewing your pricing, identifying new markets, designing new email campaigns and so on.

Time spent in this category has a direct impact on the growth and success of your business.

So when we plan the week ahead, we are really looking at the time we spend working on the business, as this is often the bit that gets left out.

One way of identifying what to work on, is to look at our biggest challenges in our businesses. We then schedule relevant time within the week to work on those challenges.

Some common ones are:
> Getting more leads
> Winning new clients
> Improving cash flow
> Increasing profits
> Personal or team productivity

Which of these would your focus be on next week?

Have created a poll below, and would love your comments.
